On-line Advertising in 2011
The economy may be improving ever so slightly in the eyes of a few, but an on-going caution among advertisers will result in continued transition of dollars to online advertising.
EMarketer projects 10.5% growth in online ad spending in the United States next year, after which the double-digit growth annually through 2014, when spending will hit $40.5 billion.
It is projected that online video advertising will grow the fastest during this time period and that search marketing continues get the lions share of the dollars spent.
Growth in online spending will continue to outperform that of all spending on average each year to inch up 1.2% next after rising 3% this year. In 2014, eMarketer projects total media spending of $188.5 billion, an increase from $168.5 billion this year.
Faster growth of online will drive digital advertising from the current 15.3% of total U.S. ad spending in 2010, 21.5% of total ad spending by 2014 the United States.
